About the Conferences
Mission Point Resort

Location:  Mackinac Island, Michigan
Conference Site:  Mission Point Resort
Conference Title: Realities of Judging
Agenda:  Click here for a time schedule
Faculty:  Judge Leslie Johnson and Judge John Lineberger
Location Description:  Mackinac Island is the truly "all natural" theme park of America. Limited to transportation of horse and buggy, bicycle or foot, surrounded by water, it has escaped the vast changes of time.  Its real Victorian image is preserved and enhanced by a small population of 500 permanent residents and scores of summer residents, maintaining bluff cottages in original state. Families, especially children, love their relatively new found "mobility", exploring the historic, natural beauty of Mackinac Island State Park, honored by National Geographic as one of the ten finest in America.

Bahia Resort Hotel
August 22 - 27, 2010
Location:  San Diego, California
Conference Site:  Bahia Resort Hotel
Conference Title:  Fact Finding Process
Agenda:  Click here for a time schedule.
Faculty:  Judge Leslie Johnson and Ms. Kay Palmer
Location Description:

Though known in the past as a stereotypically California surfer hangout, today's San Diego overflows with museums, theater, music, and fine dining that co-exist with its miles of beaches and almost-perfect weather.

MissionBay is home to a 4,600-acre park with 27 miles of bay shore beaches for swimming, water sports, running, biking, and picnicking.  MissionBeach and Pacific Beach are the most popular beaches in the area. MissionBeach is more family-friendly, home to BelmontPark, a small amusement park that features an antique wooden roller coaster, and a wave simulator for beginning and advanced surfers.  PacificBeach, connected to MissionBeach by a three-mile paved boardwalk for running, biking, and strolling, attracts a mix of travelers, including surfers, teenagers, and families. It's a good place to grab a drink or a bite to eat.  SeaWorld is a short drive from MissionBay.

Cost:  $1,200 ($1,000 tuition and $200 conference fee)

 Reach Resort
 September 26 - October 1, 2010
 Location:  Key West, Florida
 Conference Site: The Reach Resort
Conference Title:  Evidence
Agenda:  Click here for a time schedule.
Faculty:  Judge Jack Nevin and Judge Robert (Bob) Ruehlman
Location Description:

Located at the very tip of the Florida Keys, Key West is the southernmost city in the continental United States and has been attracting visitors since long before Hemingway called the tiny island home. Covering only a few square miles, this city is big on life, history, and the arts. Duval Street, Key West's bustling main drag, is lined with restaurants and shops, where visitors come to browse, dine, and drink. The rest of the island boasts outstanding fishing and water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and sunset cruises. And although the city is a popular tourist destination, you can still experience island life at a reasonable price among the commercial restaurants and shops.

Cost:  $1,200 ($1,000 tuition and $200 conference fee)
