Course Description

This week-long program is designed to provide trial court judges with practical insights and timely guidance on the evolving challenges facing courts today. Drawing from their extensive judicial experience, Judges Jack Nevin and Jay Winward will lead interactive sessions exploring emerging legal trends, the impact of technology on courtroom practice, judicial ethics in a digital world, and the growing demands of self-represented litigants.

In addition to examining substantive law and evidentiary issues, the course will address the human side of judging, including compassion fatigue, judicial leadership, cultural competency, and strategies for maintaining balance in the face of tough cases. Participants will also discuss problem-solving courts, neuroscience and behavior in the courtroom, and pressing public safety concerns such as gun laws and protective orders.

Set against the inspiring backdrop of the Zion Mountain Range, this program offers both professional enrichment and personal renewal. Judges will come away with fresh perspectives, practical tools, and shared experiences to strengthen their work on the bench and better serve their communities.
